Pupil Premium

Carr Lodge Academy recognises that all pupils regardless of their background should have equal access to a curriculum which will enable them to reach their potential. Pupil premium is a Government initiative that targets additional funding for  pupils from deprived backgrounds, which research shows; underachieve, compared to their peers. Every child with us will therefore be given opportunities and support to transition to secondary prepared for young adulthood and their next stage in education. We believe that high quality teaching, effective engagement with parents/carers and a personalised approach to meeting needs; every child can meet their potential. Fulfilling our ambition of, “Every Child; Every chance; Every Day.”

The Government uses pupils entitled to Free School meals as an indicator for deprivation, and have deployed a fixed amount of money to schools per pupil, based on the number of pupils eligible for Free School meals. Looked After Children and those of Armed Service Personnel are also eligible for this increased funding. As a school, we carefully consider what interventions are put in place that will meet the needs of our pupils. When making decisions about allocating pupil premium funding, we have analysed our data and made use of research such as the Education Endowment Foundation. The evaluation of the progress of pupils helps us to identify where there is need for intervention and strategies to promote improvement. Project plans are completed before funding is allocated and evaluations take place, either at the end of a short-term project, or it is ongoing throughout a longer-term intervention
